Northeast – Tyrn Flowers (Long Island)

Here is yet another mid-major player who has shown his dominance on the glass. Flowers had his breakout year last year. Last season he was seventh overall in the conference in total rebounding but due to some transfers of some key players and graduations of others, he now holds the clear path to the crown of the best rebounder in the league.

The Sharks have high hopes this year and have a good roster led by Flowers. He was close to averaging a double-double last season and it is likely going to happen this year. The forward is extremely athletic and quick and can grab rebounds even when it looks like it has no chance at it.

He can use his athleticism and quickness to get out in transition and get easy quick baskets for the Sharks and often set his teammates up for easy baskets.

Ohio Valley – Terry Taylor (Austin Peay)

There is not much else that Taylor can accomplish in College. He is one of the top 5 players in all of College Basketball. He is going to get drafted into the NBA and may very well play himself into a lottery pick. Austin Peay has huge expectations this year because of the contributions of Taylor. He has changed the trajectory of that program.

It should go without saying that he is the best rebounder on the team and in the conference. The senior guard averaged 11 rebounds per game a season and along with Tshiebwe and Mballa he is a force on the offensive glass, and he finished in the top three in the country with those two on the offensive glass.

The guard fills up stats and rebounds quickly and is known for his huge rebound and point totals. Taylor plays extremely hard and he is one of the top three offensive rebounders and defensive rebounders in the entire country. He is a joy to watch play the game of basketball.

Pac 12 – Timmy Allen (Utah)

The Utes didn’t have the season that was expected by many, they had noticeable struggles and many of those struggles came on the offensive end of the ball especially in conference play when they struggled mightily at times. The Utes never did seem to struggle as much on the defensive side of the game, and their best player Allen also happens to be the best rebounder in the league.

Allen was near the middle of the pack a season ago in the rebounding hierarchy, but due to a lot of early entry NBA players and graduations, he takes over the top spot for the conference. Allen is asked to do a lot for the Utes, and he has lived up to the task so far in his two years in Salt Lake.

Patriot League – Walter Whyte (Boston University)

Boston University had a great season last year. They were able to score a huge win over an SEC team in South Carolina, they were also able to beat overwhelming favorite Colgate in the Conference tournament to send them back to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2011. Whyte was a huge part of that season and that success.

Last season he finished in the top five in rebounding in the league and it was all a huge help for the Terriers in their quest to return to the NCAA tournament. Whyte enters his junior season as one of the top returning players in the Patriot League and with his ability to rebound and score he is the favorite for the player of the year.

It should be expected for the guard to improve his rebounding numbers from the 7.4 he averaged last year. If the small sample size of the Patriot League tournament is any precursor to what he is capable of on the glass, Terriers fans may be looking at a double-double average for their star.
