Why you should know Walter Whyte

Aside from sharing a name with one of the greatest TV characters in recent memory, the guard has turned himself into one of the best players in the Patriot League. Whyte was one of the best freshmen in the Patriot League as he was able to earn all-rookie team honors.

It was not that unexpected for him to have that type of a freshman year especially considering he was the only mid-major player to compete in the Jordan Brand Classic that season.  The expectations for Whyte were high and he was looked on to be a huge part of the team going forward.

After a stellar freshman year, the junior guard had to take a redshirt season as he was sidelined with an injury. It was reasonable to temper the expectations as no one knew exactly how the junior would perform coming off a serious injury.

Whyte showed that he can be the player he showed his freshman year and is now ready and primed to be one of the best players in the Patriot League. The guard is ready for a breakout and ready to lead his Terriers.

Last season Whyte silently had a good year and he was rewarded for his play with a spot on the All-Patriot League second team. That was with him being the second and even third option scoring the ball some nights.

If last seasons Patriot League title run is any indication as to the ceiling of the 6’6” guard then Terrier fans are going to be very happy. Over the three-day run, Whyte averaged 15 points and just under 10 rebounds per game. That may have very well been the coming-out party for the guard.
