MEAC Predicted Order Of Finish:

  1. North Carolina Central
  2. Morgan State
  3. Howard
  4. North Carolina A&T/Norfolk State
  5. Coppin State
  6. Delaware State
  7. Bethune Cookman
  8. FAMU
  9. South Carolina State
  10. Maryland-Eastern Shore

I know these are pre-season predictions and all, but it’s hard to put into words just how entertaining and competitive this conference will be when the season gets into full gear. There are legitimately five or six teams in this conference that could hit their respective stride and make a run at the regular-season MEAC crown.

It’s hard to bet against North Carolina Central and their recent dominance of the league. That being said, the MEAC’s 50th year of competition looks to be the most entertaining and talent-laden to date.

On paper, there may not be two deeper or more talented teams across the board in the MEAC than Howard and Morgan State. HU still has the bad taste of that 4-29 season lingering among the Bison faithful, so it’s going to be interesting to see how the smorgasbord of talent in DC meshes and congeals into a finished on-court product.

Kevin Broadus’ Bears the same pleasant problem of a deep and talented roster. Morgan made that same kind of turn-around that Howard is shooting for found their groove late and exhibited flashes of what they were ultimately capable of later in the season going into the conference tourney.

The pool of players (new or returning) that will be in the running for all-league honors for the 2020-21 season is about as diverse as the league has seen in the last 25 years. That influx of talent (mixed with a core of extremely talented coaches) will be the catalyst for one of the more entertaining races in non-power 5 leagues this season.
