Expectations for Alessandro Lever in 2020-21 season

Just to level-set former coach Majerle was not a bad coach in fact he was able to guide Grand Canyon to an average of about 20 wins per year, he averaged 10 conference wins a year and finished no lower than third place except for last year.

He was let go because the program had become stagnant and was no longer providing any competition for New Mexico State. The Antelopes are not asking for a lot from Drew, sure they ultimately want to get to the NCAA tournament but the administration is hoping for a renewed interest in the program and hoping that Drew with his ties to AAU and the SEC and multiple prep schools can help get a different class of athlete to Grand Canyon.

Lever is going to be asked to do a lot for this team as he is one of the most experienced players in the country and as mentioned has played a ton of games in college. Lever is on track to have a great season and should earn first-team All-conference honors.

Lever likely won’t play in the NBA but he will play in Europe and likely in Italy and he should have a long career over in Europe. The big man is going to enjoy his senior year and the numbers he is going to put up under his new coach.

The Antelopes have a lot of their core returning from last season and in addition to Lever, they have returning fellow senior Oscar Frayer and St. John’s transfer Mikey Dixon. The coaching staff was also able to secure the commitments of some quality grad transfers in Sean Miller-Moore from Oregon State and Asborn Midtgaard from Wichita State.

The Antelopes have one of their best rosters they have had in years and with a new coaching staff and the high-quality seniors they can hopefully close the gap in the league. Grand Canyon fans should be excited about the season.
