Sun Belt Basketball: In-depth look at Coastal Carolina star Ebrima Dibba
By Bryan Mauro
A healthy Ebrimma Dibba can propel Coastal Carolina towards the top of Sun Belt Basketball this season.
Ah, Sun Belt Basketball, what more is there to say about the conference other than it is a ton of fun to watch their games and the conference is extremely unpredictable. The best team does not always win this conference; in fact, the conference has embraced the unexpected and embraced the upsets. It isn’t nicknamed the Fun Belt for no reason.
The games are always competitive and the battles between the teams are always some of the best mid major games in the country.
Each team in the league has gotten a memorable signature win some over power schools. Little Rock was able to beat Purdue, Georgia State beat Baylor and provided viewers with an iconic moment in the NCAA tournament when head coach Ron Hunter was so excited by the win that he flew off the stool he was sitting on.
It is one of the moments that college basketball fans remember and maybe they remember it because many of them probably had Baylor going a ways in the tournament that year.
Coastal Carolina is the newest member of the Sun Belt. This season they will be starting their fifth season in the league and they were so close to a signature win last season. That win would have also been at the hands of the Baylor Bears.
Coastal ended up losing the game but they were competitive the whole way and put quite a scare into the Bears. The Chanticleers had a player in that game who jumped off the screen and was proving to be a huge difference in the game. It also happened to be the game that the fortunes of the Chanticleers year would change.
Guard Ebrima Dibba was the difference maker, and he is healthy this year and his play could drastically change the landscape for Coastal Carolina and head coach Cliff Ellis this year.
