How good can Creighton be?

The Bluejays should be Villanova’s main competition for a Big East championship and nationally they should be seen as a top-10 team, at least to begin the season. As I said earlier, Creighton has been successful under McDermott but it’s time for the program to take the next step in terms of the postseason. That step could’ve been taken last season but the virus had other plans. They have the talent to be a second-weekend team and that needs to start showing itself in March.

The goal for this team at the very least should be the second weekend of the tournament, and with improvement from guys like Jones, Mahoney and Mitchell, and Epperson and the freshmen providing frontcourt depth that was lacking last season, that goal should certainly attainable.

In order for them to reach heights that haven’t seen under McDermott, they have the offense to do so, but the other end of the floor remains a huge question mark. Alexander was not only the team’s best offensive player but also their best defensive one as well.

The Bluejays fell victim to perimeter shooting last season due to their lack of size and having to collapse in the lane defensively, that could change a little bit this season but only marginally. In the end, Creighton will go as far as their high-powered offense can take them.
