Who are the key players to watch for Maryland Basketball this upcoming season?

The 2019 – 2020 University of Maryland Basketball team (24-7) and Coach Mark Turgeon had high expectations entering the 2019 Big 10 tournament, with a Big 10 regular-season conference record of 14-6, they earned a share of their first Big 10 regular-season title and a #3 seed in the Big 10 Tournament.

There was excitement in the air, as there were some experts predicting that the Terps could make a run at the Final Four and perhaps a national championship. The 2019 – 2020 team had all the makings to end the season on a magical run in the postseason, but that was all taken away, as the Covid-10 pandemic hit the Country and dashed any hopes of winning a second national title. Maryland fans have to wonder “What if..”

The expectations in College Park are always high for the Maryland Terrapins Men’s Basketball team, but Coach Turgeon and his staff will have to figure out how to deal with losing their two superstars Anthony Cowan Jr. and Jalen Smith to graduation and the NBA Draft and losing several players to the transfer portal.

After losing out on a long list of big-name transfers, the expectations for the 2020 – 2021 season are not what Maryland fans are accustomed to, but with three experienced returning starters and some key players off the bench, as well as a couple of solid and much-needed transfers, this year’s team, is a much different team than in previous years and could be a dangerous team come March.

This is an experienced Terps team with something to prove, as there are many doubters about how well they will do this year. There are several players to keep an eye out for this coming year.
