NBA Draft 2020: Best prospect fit for each franchise among top 10 picks
By William Cash
2. Golden State Warriors – James Wiseman
Golden State was only bad last year mostly because Steph Curry and Klay Thompson were injured last year. Those guys are back for this upcoming season which turns Golden State back into a championship contender. Anthony Edwards has great potential but Golden State doesn’t need a wing with Thompson and Andrew Wiggins being there.
The Warriors need a big man and someone who can protect the rim and play somewhat of a role of how Andrew Bogut played on those Warriors championship teams. The difference is Wiseman could be a superstar.
I think the Warriors are a better fit for Wiseman than the Hornets will be. Charlotte will expect Wiseman to come in and carry the load of a franchise. While the Warriors will have a great staff with Steve Kerr to develop Wiseman and learn from the veterans such as Green, Curry, and Thompson. While expecting him to play his role for the upcoming season.
Golden State will expect Wiseman to do what he’s best at. Rebound, protect the rim and run the rim. He should be a way more athletic version of how Bogut played for Golden State and may even be better offensively than Bogut was.
This would be a home run pick for Golden State, as they get a franchise player of the future with a ton of potential and a guy to take the torch from Steph Curry when he decides to retire from his storied career.
