8. New York Knicks – LaMelo Ball

It does not take a basketball genius to know the Knicks are a mess. They are overpaying multiple role players in Wayne Ellington, Taj Gibson, Elfrid Payton, Maurice Harkless, Bobby Portis, and Julius Randle. Lottery Picks Dennis Smith Jr., Frank Ntilikina, and Kevin Knox have looked absolutely terrible or role players at best.

Mitchell Robinson and R.J. Barrett have shown promise, but they aren’t franchise players. New GM Leon Powell has to draft a player that can lead be the Franchise player for the future and that guy could definitely be LaMelo Ball.

Ball like his older brother Lonzo is an excellent passer, a great rebounder, an excellent ball-handler, and possesses an excellent IQ. His downside like his older brother is his shooting form is questionable, and he can be very undisciplined at times. But what do the Knicks have to lose to draft Ball? He will find ways to put the ball in the bucket and will be the best player on a horrid Knicks team.

Bad news for the Knicks is they hold the 8th pick. Ball is a projected top-three pick and is projected in most mock drafts to be taken by Charlotte with the third pick. This means that the Knicks will have to make a trade to get in the top three to select Ball unless they think he will slide to the 8th pick because of his low-efficiency shooting, shooting mechanics, and unpredictable tendencies on the court.
