7. Detroit Pistons – Killian Hayes

The Pistons are kind of in that same position as Washington where they have superstars that are taking up a ton of cap. Griffin is being paid a max contract and was injured all of last season. The cap room Detroit does have they are most likely going have to pay Christian Wood who was a breakout star last season.

Unless Detroit trades Griffin, which I see unlikely anyone wanting to take that contract and them also most likely going to pay Christian Wood and with them drafting Sekou Doumboya last year. Detroit does not need a big man. With Derrick Rose aging and being in his contract year, why not get a franchise cornerstone with the number seven pick.

Hayes is an amazing defender, a good ball-handler, an excellent basketball IQ, and a great touch around the rim. Hayes struggled shooting from behind the arc last year in France but, has great shooting mechanics and he should become a better shooter over time. If Detroit can get Hayes at seven it would be a home run pick and will give him a year to learn under former MVP Derrick Rose.
