Season Outlook for Seton Hall Basketball

Seton Hall is a team that a lot of people are unsure about this season. After losing Myles Powell, Romaro Gill, and Quincy McKnight, there are many voids to fill on this Pirates team, but they still boast a very strong roster in 2020-21.

Personally, I am very high on this Seton Hall team. It will be a major challenge to fill the holes left by the seniors, but this team has all of the pieces to be successful in 2020-21. Kevin Willard has a history of scheduling tough early on in the season and I think that will pay off exponentially for the Pirates.

On their schedule so far, there are not many opportunities for Seton Hall to suffer a bad loss. While there may be some growing pains early on, Seton Hall will have the chance to pick up some major resume-boosting wins, without suffering losses that will hurt their resume. Once the conference season begins, the Pirates should be at their best, which I believe will lead to a 3rd place finish in the Big East.

This Seton Hall team has so many different options to turn to from a scoring perspective. Sandro Mamukelashvili will be the focal point of the Seton Hall offense, but Jared Rhoden, Myles Cale, and Bryce Aiken could all pick up the scoring load on any given night.

The Pirates will also be very strong defensively this season. The only aspect of play that the loss of Myles Powell might help Seton Hall this season is on the defensive end. The Pirates will be able to have fresh legs on the court at all times and they have many tenacious defensive players. From Shavar Reynolds to Ike Obiagu to Takal Molson, Seton Hall will be able to lock up their opponent’s best scorer night in and night out.

Despite not being considered major preseason contenders, this Seton Hall team will certainly finish in the top half of the Big East Conference. With a top-five finish in the conference, the Pirates will be well on their way to their fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
