Aaron Wiggins of Maryland Basketball gets preseason watchlist recognition.

Wiggins earned a spot on the Preseason Julius Erving Award Watchlist Wednesday. The Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year should take his game to another level during the 2020-21 season.

Wiggins scored 10.4 points and secured 4.9 rebounds per game last season as he was a big part of what the Terps were able to do on both ends of the court. He shined as a three-point shooter despite shooting 31 percent from out there.

They could always count on him getting to the rim aggressively and deploying the one-handed slam. He was an asset on the fast break whether he stole the ball and took it to the house himself or trailed a teammate and scored that way.

He joins several talented Big Ten small forwards on the list including Franz Wagner (Michigan Wolverines), Aaron Henry (Michigan State Spartans), and Ron Harper Jr. (Rutgers Scarlet Knights).

Other notable big names on the list are Derrick Alston Jr. (Boise State Broncos), Jalen Johnson and Wendell Moore (Duke Blue Devils), Keyontae Johnson (Florida Gators), Corey Kispert (Gonzaga Bulldogs), Brandon Boston Jr. (Kentucky Wildcats), and D.J. Jeffries (Memphis Tigers).

Villanova Wildcats Wing Saddiq Bey won the award last year becoming the third Wildcats player in the last four seasons to do so. He averaged 16.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game and earned a unanimous First-team All-Big East selection also. See other past winners here.

Wiggins will have an increased role in the starting lineup and be an integral part of the Terps offense. The NBA Draft is certainly in his future. The Terps are likely to lose him after this season and he will be a nice addition to the franchise who selects him.
