2. Trae Young – G Oklahoma (2017-2018)

Career Stats (1 season): 27.4 PPG, 8.7 APG, 86% FT

The single most greatest individual effort in a season came from the Oklahoma star, Trae Young. Young was an anomaly as every time he played, it would become must-watch TV.

During the middle half of his freshman season would be times, where the ESPN crew would keep count of only his stats, throughout the entirety of a game.

Some of his best performances are considered to be legendary, with a 44-point performance against Baylor, where he shot 55% from the field. Earlier in the season, he would get the better of younger Payton Pritchard of Oregon as he shot 50% from the field and tallied 43 more points, to along with seven assists.

One of the downfalls for Trae Young was his volume of shooting and when the light was the brightest, couldn’t bring home the win the Sooners needed. One of these was clear when Young took 39 shots in a losing effort against Oklahoma State. Young would have a career-high 48 points, but shoot 35% from the field and 31% from three-point range.

It’s easy to draw Stephen Curry comparisons to Young when you watch his highlight tape. Although not as efficient as Curry, Young can tap into the same range that Curry has from time to time. Young’s ability to pass the ball also is a strong reason for him to be considered a Curry prodigy.

Young would finish with 27.4 points, 8.7 assists, and shooting almost 50% from the field. Young’s downfall in terms of stats, would come as being extremely turnover prone.

With all of that being said, Young received a plethora of postseason awards, including a Consensus All-American and Naismith Award Finalists. Young is a future superstar in the league, after making the All-Star team.
