Season Outlook

For this section, I decided that it would best if I kept things simple. Why? Well, because the important point is, last season the Billikens had enough pieces to not necessarily win the Atlantic 10 conference (because of Dayton’s complete dominance), and receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, but to at least receive an at-large bid to the big dance.

This season, Saint Louis has most of the important pieces from the 2019-20 season, and because I anticipate that they will be much hungrier than they were a season ago, this could be the year that the Billikens finish at the very top of the league (and then proceed to win the Atlantic 10 Tournament). Additionally, Saint Louis is not a team that you should expect, to get bounced out of the NCAA Tournament in the Round of 64 (if they do make it there of course).

If the Billikens are able to enjoy, consistency from Hasahn French and Jordan Goodwin, a less turnover prone version of Yuri Collins, and excellent production from their bench, they are easily a sweet 16 team this year (and if they make it that far, I believe that anything can happen).

Look at things this way, last year, the Billikens were capable of beating just about every division one team, and losing to just about every division one team. You never really knew what you were going to get from them on a game-to-game basis, which was the scary part.

However, now, I think that the Billikens are fully aware of the consequences, that come with frequently starting games flat, and with virtually no energy. That is why I believe that they will start, and finish the season playing elite level, and consistent basketball.

Hopefully, the Billikens will live up to my expectations for them this year, as they have a ridiculously high ceiling, and could definitely have an unforgettable 2020-21 season.
