Who is the favorite to win each conference for the 2020-21 NCAA Basketball season?

We’re just weeks away from the upcoming NCAA Basketball season. And while schedules are still being finalized, it looks as if all things are ready to go. We have a few new D-I programs such as Dixie State and Tarleton State while missing out on Bethune Cookman, whose athletic sports will be sitting out altogether.

That leaves us with 356 programs in 32 different conferences fighting for regular-season and eventually… postseason tournaments. Considering that everyone’s respective non-conference schedules have been reduced due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, conference play will be even more important this time around.

Maryland Eastern-Shore is the first D-I NCAA Basketball program to announce that they’ll be playing only MEAC games, with other small schools potentially joining that route. And many conferences, such as the Mountain West, have decided to play up 20 league games this season.

There will be many important battles among the 32 conferences, with some being more intriguing than others. But in what will be a season literally like no other, look for there to be many results that can be unexpected.

So who are the favorites? After many NBA Draft decisions, transfers, and incoming freshmen out of high school, the rosters now have a clear look. This piece will look at each individual conference, predicting the favorites to win the regular-season championship, as well as which teams are the biggest contenders for that title.

Some will seem obvious, while others will look like a complete free-for-all.
