Nebraska Basketball makes program history by landing five-star guard Bryce McGowens.

In the year and a half that Fred Hoiberg has been the coach of Nebraska Basketball he has flipped the roster and has slowly installed his brand of wide-open athletic basketball. Nebraska runs a five out style and outside of the big man, the players can all bring the ball up the floor, all of them shoot, and they have a very ascetically pleasing style of basketball to watch and play.

Just to level set, the Nebraska basketball program has never received a commitment from a five-star player out of high school. Coach Tim Miles did receive a commitment from a five-star transfer in Isaac Copeland.

Hoiberg in a year and a half has offered five-star players and since the moment he arrived on campus as the coach of the Nebraska basketball team it was clear that he was going to take the Huskers to new heights on the recruiting trail.

Today, the Nebraska basketball team received a commitment that is going to change the trajectory of that program forever. They have officially received a commitment from their very first five-star prospect. Guard Bryce McGowens who recently de-committed from Florida State has given his commitment and signed his letter of intent to play for Nebraska starting in the 2021-2022 season.

When Coach Hoiberg was hired at Nebraska, everyone knew that this was going to be a possibility and he was going to infuse the program with talent quickly, no one figured it would be this quick especially considering how badly the first season went for Hoiberg and the Huskers. This commitment could have lasting effects on the program.
