Guard. Chicago Bulls. Killian Hayes. 4. player. 24.

The French-American point guard is a good shooter and passer but more importantly, is an outstanding defender. At 6’5, Hayes has the size and quickness to deal with any kind of opposition and has the ability to be the long-term franchise point guard for a given team.

"The 19-year old Hayes averaged 7.8 assists per 36 minutes last season and is 6-foot-5 with a 6-foot-8 wingspan, covering two big needs for Chicago (playmaking and defensive versatility). – Michael Walton"

Chicago saw flashes from last year’s top-10 pick Coby White, producing a number of big performances towards the end of his rookie year. However, he looks to be better-suited off the ball than one that facilitates the offense. With Otto Porter sticking around and big men Lauri Markkanen and Wendell Carter Jr. better options than most of the bigs in this draft, trying again with a point guard in Hayes is likely the most popular move among fans.

. Point guard. Charlotte Hornets. LaMelo Ball. 3. player. 170

The youngest of the famous Ball brothers, LaMelo may be the most talented. He’s a 6’7 point guard with great measurables and an even better feel for the game. In a draft filled with talented point guards, Ball is considered the best. However, his shooting stroke and lack of defensive desire make him a risky prospect as well in the top-3.

"The Hornets have zero playmaking to speak of. A shot creator with excellent vision, LaMelo fits their needs and might have the highest ceiling of any player in the draft. – Karl Heiser"

But for Charlotte, they’ll take that risk. Although James Wiseman may be the better option, Ball would instantly put the franchise on a national radar. And a backcourt of Ball and Devonte Graham would be a very good match since the ladder can play off the ball with his elite shooting ability. The Hornets are going to have to build this roster up but Ball may be the best building block of anyone in this draft.

Center. Golden State Warriors. James Wiseman. 2. player. 41.

He only played three games at Memphis due to various circumstances but Wiseman showed the promise of being a No. 1 NBA Draft pick. The 7’0 center is an outstanding low-post scorer who can do nearly anything he wants inside. Wiseman is a strong defender and rebounder as well and is a safe bet to produce anywhere between 15-20 ppg for any team he goes to.

"Surrounding Wiseman’s physical attributes and seemingly endless upside with what might be the best foundation for growth in the league is a great fit for both sides. – Cody Larson"

Golden State will get its core trio of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green back this season, while also having 20 ppg scoring wing Andrew Wiggins. The only position of concern is at center, where they’ve used a number of different options. Wiseman would be a better plug-in than just about all of the potential center free agent options available, making this a near-perfect match.

1. player. 86. . Guard. Minnesota Timberwolves. Anthony Edwards

The 6’5 guard averaged 19.1 ppg and 5.2 rpg on Georgia last season and led all freshmen in scoring in the country. He had a number of major individual performances, including going for 37 points against Michigan State on national television. His numbers (40% overall and 29% from deep) were partly due to the fact that Edwards had to shoot as much as possible on a team that lacked a great supporting cast.

"Edwards ability on the offensive end and potential on the defensive end will help add the essential third piece to move Minnesota back into playoff contention – Joe Casey"

Edwards still has great size, athleticism, and skills to score anywhere on the court and still won’t turn 20 until August. The concerns of him not being a winning player and being compared to Andrew Wiggins can be legit points but if he did the same thing at Kentucky, would he be viewed differently?

Minnesota has its franchise building blocks in De’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns. They could go another guard but he’d have to be a good fit with Russell on the perimeter. The same would be said for a big with Towns inside. The best bet is to go for a talented shooting guard or wing and at No. 1, Edwards would be a safe option.
