UT-Arlington’s schedule so far

In the 3rd season under Chris Ogden, the Mavericks will start with a severe early test and a rare sight you see in College Basketball. A Power 5 team is going on the road to play a Mid-Major, as Oklahoma State will be coming to Arlington. #1 recruit in the 2020 class, Guard Cade Cunningham will be making his College Basketball debut for Oklahoma State.

The schedule does not get any easier, as after back to back games in Louisiana, The Mavericks travel up north for a pair of games against Arkansas on December, 2nd, and Tulsa on the 4th. Both of these teams are coming off of 20 win seasons and are looking to make a push toward the top of their respective conferences.

After a week break, UTA finally returns home for a matchup with Hardin-Simmons, before traveling eight days later back up to Tulsa to play Oral Roberts. The Mavericks finish their non-con slate with a home game against Howard Payne, just their 3rd home game of the season up to that point.

The Sun Belt has decided to play back to back days of games every Friday and Saturday as apart of their conference slate. UTA’s begins on New Year’s Day with a home set with Arkansas Little Rock. The Trojans are coming off a Sun Belt regular-season championship last year, as they held a 15-5 record in conference play.

Due to COVID, the conference has only let each team play five opponents, as there will be two home games and two road games against each. The Mavericks finish their regular season with two home games against Arkansas State on February 26th and 27th. The Red Wolves finished with an 8-12 record in conference play last year and return their leading scorer in Marquis Eaton (13.3 PPG)

For a schedule as a whole, Ogden is challenging his team with some quality games. Oklahoma State brought in two consensus five-stars, who have length and extreme athleticism. Arkansas is a battle-tested program and not even Tulsa and Louisiana Tech should be taken lightly.

Ogden is up for the challenge as the Mavericks are hoping to play spoiler on quite a few of these teams and have the conference be put on notice.
