8. RJ Hampton – New Zealand Breakers

RJ Hampton was a five-star recruit out of Little Elm, Texas. Hampton was recruited by NCAA Division I programs but chose to bypass college and play professionally overseas for one season. Hampton will be a name to look out for at the NBA Draft due to his fundamentals and playmaking.

RJ’s father, Rod Hampton, played college basketball for SMU from 1987 to 1991.

Hampton was a consensus five-star recruit and ranked among the best in the 2019 recruiting class. He narrowed down his college destinations to Kansas, Memphis, and Texas Tech before choosing to sign with the New Zealand Breakers of the National Basketball League (NBL).

Hampton played 15 games in the NBL averaging 8.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. Hampton shot 40.7 percent from the field.

Hampton is a drive and finish type of player who can be explosive when elevating for layups. Hampton is a great off-ball player with speed and is not afraid to show his hustle and athleticism on the court.

Although he might be slept on by many teams, he is skilled and confident. Hampton could be a steal at the end of the first round. Hampton will succeed in the NBA regardless of which team selects him.
