Top-50 NCAA Basketball prospect Mac Etienne is now down to just four options.

We’re starting to run out of uncommitted top-tier centers in the 2021 NCAA Basketball recruiting class. In recent months, we’ve seen Nathan Bittle go to Oregon, Daimion Collins to Kentucky, and  Paolo Banchero to the Duke Blue Devils. Among true centers left in the top-50 according to 247sportsComposite, there’s Paolo Banchero, Charles Bediako, Efton Reid, and Mac Etienne.

Of all of the big men, Etienne’s recruitment has arguably been the quietest, despite always having a ton of interest from power conference programs. Part of it had to have been waiting to see what the other top-tier bigs would do since the same programs were targeting multiple class of 2021 centers.

At 6’10, Etienne is a consensus top-100 overall and four-star prospect and recent state of Connecticut Gatorade Player of the Year. He averaged 15 ppg, 13 rpg, and over four blocks a game as a junior and is a talented individual defender and athlete. His offensive game continues to develop but he can shoot the ball and has a solid post-game inside. He’s the kind of 3-4 year athlete that can develop into an all-conference star for whichever program he lands at.

It’s a very interesting group of contenders for Etienne. They’re all over the country, stretching from the east to the west. Right now though, there isn’t a clear favorite, meaning that all of them have a legit shot to land a top-50 caliber center prospect.

Here’s a closer look at Etienne’s fit with each of the final four contenders.
