Season outlook for 2020-21

Minnesota fans, I admire your patience.

Losing your best player to the draft is something that every team has to go through at some point, but missing out on 20 points and 11 rebounds a game from Daniel Oturu will be tough.

Let’s focus on the future.

Getting back Marcus Carr was crucial and you should expect a big season from him at the point guard position.

What you should really be excited about is the success that was had in the transfer portal.

I’m going to reiterate something for the third time.

Both Gach will be a difference-maker.

He might be slightly raw at first, but once he adjusts to the style of the Big Ten he could blossom into one of the best players in the conference.

Along with Gach, Brandon Johnson and Liam Robbins will make an impact the second they step on the floor. Add Gabe Kalscheur to the four players I named and you have a starting five that has the ability to make something happen.

It might take some time, but don’t count out the Minnesota Golden Gophers quite yet.

2020 has already been a year for the record books, so why can’t Minnesota use that to their advantage?

Now let me not get ahead of myself, as a lot of things will have to go right in order for Richard Pitino’s squad to make a deep run, but it’s not totally out of the question.

Realistically, it will take some time for the new pieces to mesh with the veterans and in the Big Ten there isn’t much room for error.

This season could very well end up being the dry run for 2021, so I have two words for Golden Gopher fans everywhere:

Trust the process.
