Both seniors need to adjust their game on offense coming into this season.

Pickett needs to be more aggressive on all three levels. On the perimeter, he needs to attempt more three-pointers. In his freshman year, he attempted 157 three-pointers with most coming from the corners. It made sense with the people around him. What doesn’t makes sense is the only attempted 101 in his sophomore year and 109 last year.

The dip to 101 in his sophomore year was partially due to the flexibility that James Akinjo and Mac McClung were given on offense. While they were learning the college game, Pickett was finding his way in an offense that looked different from the one in his freshman. Not necessarily schematically but different in who and where the shots were being taken.

The head-scratcher is last season. In a season where the Hoyas desperately needed more three-point attempts, Pickett took the highest number of two-point attempts in his career.

Georgetown isn’t going to out-two point anyone this season. Pickett’s three-point attempts will need to increase.

Pickett can also be more efficient from 15 feet or so. If Ewing wants to get really creative, screening Pickett down to the post or getting him on an advantageous switch on screen and roll would also increase his opportunities.

Blair’s game needs to change in the opposite direction. His 190 three-point attempts were fine even if his 32.6% was a little bit of a bummer.

Where his game needs to change is with his two-point game. He needs to be a more efficient penetrator who can set up his teammates better off of penetration. Even with Grad Transfer Jalen Harris (Arkansas) being the projected starter, there’s no doubt that Blair will see some time at point guard.
