Seton Hall vs. Louisville: 2020-21 college basketball game preview, TV schedule
The Seton Hall Pirates will be looking for revenge against Louisville basketball to start the 2020-21 season.
Who: Seton Hall Pirates 0-0 vs. Louisville Cardinals 0-0
When: Friday, November 27 at 4 p.m. ET
Where: KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, KY
TV Schedule: ESPN2
Louisville basketball got the better of the Pirates the last time these two teams played back in 2018. Back then, Myles Powell and Jordan Nwora were running the show for both sides and Powell led that game with 23 points in the loss.
Both of those players found homes in the NBA with the New York Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks, respectively. Now, transfer Bryce Aiken (Harvard) and Carlik Jones (Radford) are at the helm for both schools, and seeing those two go at it should be fun.
David Johnson will be another player to watch for the Cardinals in this game as he was named to the preseason watchlist for the Naismith Trophy. He had a very productive stretch over the last 15 games of the 2019-20 season. He averaged nine points, four assists, four rebounds, and a steal per game during that span while shooting 49.5 percent from the field. He was the ACC assists leader among freshmen with four per game.
The Pirates were outrebounded 42-28 in the last meeting and still lost despite creating 16 Louisville basketball turnovers to their seven. The Pirates have to do better on the boards and take care of the basketball as they did.
Hopefully, we witness a D’Mitrik Trice-Zavier Simpson-like battle between the two aforementioned point guards. According to Adam Zagoria of NJ.com, Malik Williams is sidelined 12 weeks with a foot injury and graduate transfer guard Charles Minlend is out six weeks with a knee injury he suffered in practice.
As a result, Sandro Mamukelashvili may have an easier time in the paint on both ends of the floor. This I going to be another tight game. Louisville pulled away late in the second half two years ago and Seton Hall has a chance to even things up Friday with key injuries to Cardinals players.
