Virginia Basketball takes on San Francisco in a matchup of opposite styles.

This year’s college basketball season has some unbelievable early-season matchups between good mid-majors and great power schools. They are matchups that would likely not otherwise happen had many of the other games not been cancelled or postponed due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Friday the country is going to get one of those games on prime-time television.

Virginia Basketball comes into the year with a top-five ranking, and the San Francisco Dons have been trending up for the last four seasons are now ready to show the country they are worthy of an NCAA tournament bid. This game may not look like much on paper and Virginia is likely going to be expected to win this game by double digits, but it may be closer than everyone thinks.

The game is part of the Mohegan Sun Bubbleville event that looks much different than it did at the start of the week. San Francisco was originally scheduled to come to Lincoln to play in the Golden Window Classic but backed out when the Covid numbers got too great in the city.

They then moved on to the Mohegan Sun Bubbleville which is going to allow them to play better teams and bump up their resume with early-season wins. Virginia lost some games due to positive Covid tests from the teams they were playing and have seen a ton of shuffling early.

The season is here, and this is going to be one of the better games for opening week. What are the three things to watch for?
