Gonzaga Basketball finished up the Fort Myers Tip-Off in a fashion that NCAA fans will soon get used to.

Gonzaga Basketball competed in two games in the past two days and did nothing to damage their position as the No.1 ranked team in the nation. After a 102-90 victory over No. 6 Kansas, the Bulldogs took on an Auburn team that lost four of five starters from last season and with current guard Sharife Cooper not traveling to Fort Myers with the team.

The rebuilding Auburn Tigers, who recently instilled a self-imposed post-season ban, was able to keep it close in the very early going, thanks to three-pointers from Devan Cambridge and Tyrell Jones that gave Auburn a 6-5 lead with less than two minutes off the clock, a lead that would be their only one of the game. By the time the final buzzer sounded Drew Timme‘s 28 points and Corey Kispert’s 25 points gave Gonzaga a 90-67 victory.

This now gives the Bulldogs a pair of wins against power conference opponents to start the season. Before and after the game though, news of a positive test for Covid-19 among one of their players has created an unknown about the team’s upcoming matchups against Baylor and West Virginia.

But we’ll get to that in the coming days. For now, let’s look at what to take away from Gonzaga’s first two games of the season.
