Baylor vs Gonzaga: 5 key storylines for No. 1 against No. 2 battle
By Andrew Tineo
5. Creating their own energy
The atmosphere with no fans came up as a concern and especially for a game of this magnitude, a packed house would seem to due to this game it’s diligence. However, that is not the case and no fans are allowed inside.
Although both games had intense benches, Baylor and Illinois made it seem like there was a small student section in the arena. However, it was just the coaches and players that made this game feel more exciting.
Whoever creates the most energy has a good chance to use that as momentum and carry that onto their play on the court. It was a big difference for Baylor and it was big for Gonzaga in their season-opening win over Kansas. It’s not the most flashy aspect of winning a game and certainly is unorthodox, especially when players are used to big crowds.
Both programs have a plethora of talent and both teams go eight deep in their lineup. Potential NBA draft picks and All-Conference players will headline the clash of two of the most elite in CBB. The guards of Baylor against the potential duo of Nembhard and Suggs. The best frontline, with Kispert and Timme against the undersized and energetic Vital and Tchatchoua.
The adaptation to both of these teams is huge and whichever one can create more has a good possibility of walking out of Indianapolis with two wins and the top ranking. The game will be televised on CBS and Tip-off is expected to be at 1 p.m. ET.
