Florida State Basketball got its season off to a good start with a victory over the North Florida Ospreys. Here are some takeaways from the game.

Up to this point in early December, we’ve seen most of the ranked teams in the country play on the court. There have been a few stragglers, including Florida State Basketball that have yet to play this 2020-21 season.

The good news is that they finally got on the court this week, taking on the 0-3 North Florida Ospreys from the Atlantic Sun Conference. This was their third straight matchup against ACC opponents, having already lost to both NC State and Miami.

But the Seminoles are projected to be a different beast. Ranked No. 22 in the polls, Coach Leonard Hamilton’s team has aspirations of not only repeating as ACC regular-season champions but also making a potential Final Four run.

The team got off to a great start, beating North Florida by a final score of 86-58. The Seminoles had a 15-point halftime lead but went for 50 total in the second half to push the game way out of reach. Senior MJ Walker led all scorers with 17 points in the game, with 12 players overall scoring at least two points. For most teams, this would be a sign of benchwarmers getting in on the action but this is usually how Florida State operates.

While it’s just one game, there are still things to take away from the Seminoles’ season-opening matchup. Here are three specific topics.
