4. Coach K vs Coach Oates

The media is going to blow this up more than it needs to be, but what happened this week was definitely new. After dropping their second home game of the year Coach K went on record to say he didn’t think they needed to be playing college basketball right now with the pandemic going on.

A day later Nate Oates of Alabama asked if Duke just had not lost their second game would he be saying the same thing. He then proceeded to go on why he thinks they should be playing basketball.

There are very good points to both sides and we aren’t trying to argue those, but it was interesting to see a coach come out against Coach K. I guarantee he wasn’t the only one thinking it, but he actually came out and said it.

There is a brotherhood between coaches that they seem to keep things like this to themselves and especially not out against legends like Coach K.

Coach Oates has since called Coach K up and apologized for his comments and all seems to be right in the college world again, but part of us would still love to see a Crimson Tide and Blue Devils matchup in the tournament. If the basketball Gods have a sense of humor they will make it happen.
