NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Top-40 wing Gradey Dick releases top 8
By Ian Mumm
The talented and versatile backcourt weapon Gradey Dick is targeting the ‘Who’s Who’ of NCAA basketball with his latest recruitment update.
Gradey Dick noted he’s considering a final eight of Alabama, Baylor, Florida, Purdue, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Illinois, and Texas Tech. This season he’s averaging 11 points, six rebounds, and two assists per game for national powerhouse Sunrise Christian (KS). The Buffaloes roster is full of top-100 players from the 2021 and 2022 NCAA Basketball classes, but Dick has found ways to contribute beyond the stat sheet.
After multiple selections to the USA Basketball training camp roster, Dick has developed into being a dangerous player both on and off the ball. Proving to be a reliable perimeter-threat, with easy range on his jumper, defenses have to thoroughly account for his high IQ movements on the court.
Making adjustments on the fly, Dick has a very effective shot fake combined with an explosive first step to get around defenders and attack the basket. Although his on-court production has taken a hit alongside 5-star guards after making the move to Sunrise Christian, his impact making plays without the ball in his hands and seeing points of attack are a key component of his value and ability to immediately translate to the next level.

In a recent interview with SI.com, Dick indicated he has not set out a definitive timeline for committing to a program. His main goal ahead of that step is to continue building relationships with each of the remaining teams and coaching staffs to find the best home for him. I take a look at which programs on his list offer the best opportunities to contribute as a freshman and which ideally fit his playing style.
