Two shareholders of last season’s Big East Regular Season Championship meet up Wednesday in Seton Hall and Creighton.

After a full schedule of Big East action on Saturday, both the Creighton Bluejays and the Seton Hall Pirates are coming off victories to meet at CHI Health Care Omaha for a 9 pm tip Wednesday on FS1. Despite these two teams sharing the Big East title along with Villanova last season, Creighton Basketball came away with two victories versus Seton Hall Basketball last season.

This season Head Coach Greg McDermott and the Bluejays enter the game with a 4-1 Big East record, with their only conference blemish as a result of an 89-84 loss to Marquette. In non-conference play, they lost a marquee match up to Kansas Basketball 73-72. The Bluejays continue to be led by senior Denzel Mahoney (15 ppg) and Big East’s preseason Player of the Year Marcus Zegarowski (13.8 ppg).

Head Coach Kevin Willard and Seton Hall Basketball have built a three-game winning streak since falling to Providence in overtime. The Pirates have leaned on the scoring talents of senior Sandro Mamukelashvili (18.2 ppg) after testing the NBA Draft waters this season. Junior Jared Rhoden (15.5 ppg) has been instrumental as a swingman on both ends of the floor.

Having yet to face each other this season these two teams will face each other again at the end of the month. Depending on how the storylines play out this time around, it will give each coach a reason to hit the video room prior to their Jan. 27 game.
