North Carolina Tar Heels

Compared to the year before, the guards for the Tar Heels have been okay. But okay isn’t up to the high standards that the program always has. Freshman guards Caleb Love and RJ Davis are averaging around double figures but have been largely inconsistent. And as a team, they’re one of the worst in terms of three-point shooting in the country and there’s little real depth in the backcourt as well.

Mills would come in and be the best guard on the roster, whether Love would come back or not. And with five-star guard prospect Hunter Sallis reportedly looking away from North Carolina, they’ll be in the market for another perimeter player this offseason. Between being close to home and having a legit need for a playmaking/scoring guard for next season, UNC looks like a great match for Mills.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Another local option for Mills to consider, Wake Forest would have plenty to offer as well. Almost all of the guards in the main rotation are either seniors or freshmen, so adding a junior would help with the roster breakdown. This is also a rebuilding team, so Mills could very well have a huge impact and play big minutes as an effective starter.

The only main issue would be that he’d be playing for a team in the bottom half of the ACC, compared with a perennial contender at North Carolina. But if starting and having a big role is a major priority and he doesn’t get that with the Tar Heels, maybe the Deacons could make an offer Mills can’t refuse.
