Michigan Basketball: 2020-21 keys for Wolverines to win at Purdue Boilermakers
By Adam Childs
The Michigan basketball team got back on track on Tuesday when they once again routed a Big Ten opponent. The Wolverines used a strong early push to blow out and sweep Maryland. It was a bounce-back win after they suffered their first loss of the year at Minnesota over the weekend.
The Wolverines have had little trouble in the Big Ten up until that road game in Minneapolis and all eyes were on them to see how they would respond. They didn’t leave any doubt as they raced out to a 17-3 lead to start the game and never looked back.
Mike Smith hit three early threes and Isaiah Livers added a couple of his own to put distance between them and the Terrapins. Mix that in with great defense once again and Maryland was no match for the Wolverines.
Things get tougher for Michigan, though, on Friday as they head to West Lafayette to take on a tough Boilermakers team.
Purdue hasn’t always looked great this year but they already have two big comeback wins at both Michigan State and Ohio State. The latter coming on Tuesday night when freshman Jaden Ivey hit a big three with under 10 seconds to go to win the game for the Boilermakers.
That win gave them a season sweep over the Buckeyes and improved their Big Ten record to 6-3. It was their fourth win in a row after losing three of four.
The Boilermakers are led by junior forward Trevion Williams who is averaging a team-high 15.4 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. He has been solid all year down low and when he plays well, Purdue usually wins.
It should be a great game on Friday night, but before that, we take a look at three keys for the Wolverines to win the game.
