Biggest threats to beat Gonzaga

Unfortunately for us hoops fans, Gonzaga verse Baylor was postponed earlier in the season. Who knows how that game would have turned out, but Baylor undoubtedly has to be the main concern for the Bulldogs. Last year’s tournament getting canceled stunk for so many reasons, but probably none more than for Baylor (and Dayton).

The Bears guard play is so deep and so heady. Their four primary guards all score in double digits to go along with Mark Vital, who is the definition of his name. He is the straw that stirs the drink because he does all of the little things to help a team win ala Draymond Green.

In my opinion, Jay Wright is the best coach in America. What he has done with Villanova is truly remarkable. Even with their COVID outbreak, they were still able to win a game when they were not at their best against Seton Hall. Additionally, they somehow gained ground in the Big East during their pause. Playing at their pace, not their opponents is why they are always successful.

They have a leader in Collin Gillespie, a star in Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, and tremendous role players who actually know their role. Jermaine Samuels and Justin Moore are guys who don’t try to do too much and play within themselves. The culture that the Wildcats have immediately makes them dangerous.

Lastly, I’m going to put the Wisconsin Badgers into the mix. Yes, they aren’t the most athletic. Yes, they got their butts handed to them in Ann Arbor. (I’ll get to them on my next list). And yes, this is probably not as talented of a team as the Kaminsky and Dekker team. However, when you have a Point Guard like D’Mitrik Trice, it is a complete game-changer. He’s tough, he’s clutch, and he’s experienced. Well actually, all of the Badgers are experienced.

Their starting lineup is more experienced than the current Chicago Bulls, as Kevin Kugler stated on one of the broadcasts. With an average age of just over 22.5 years old, the Badgers have been there, done that.
