NCAA Basketball: 5 most underwhelming coaching jobs so far in 2020-21
Archie Miller – Indiana Hoosiers
Archie Miller was fantastic at Dayton. He had immense success with the Flyers and made multiple NCAA Tournaments. Heck, he took them on a wild ride to the Elite Eight. He unquestionably earned this gig at Indiana.
However, his stint with the Hoosiers has been anything to be desired. Not only has he not made the NCAA Tournament, but he has only won one game in the Big Ten Tournament. It’s not like he didn’t have the talent either, as Juwan Morgan and Romeo Langford are in the NBA. IU basketball is pretty sacred, and it is unfortunate for him that March Madness was canceled last year, but the setbacks and inconsistency from this year’s team have been maddening.
The Hoosiers’ primary players are all sophomores or older, so they shouldn’t have the mental lapses they continue to have. Trayce Jackson-Davis is an absolute monster. They have three guards who are all interchangeable. They certainly have the pieces to be atop the very good Big Ten Conference.
I tweeted after their home loss against Rutgers. It’s absolutely mind-blowing the way they played coming off a statement road win. They trailed a laboring Scarlet Knight team all game, and there’s no way that should happen with the confidence they have ought to have gained. In my opinion, they were licking their chops and took Rutgers for granted.
The next game is the most important game, and Archie Miller did not have his guys ready to play. This team has many highs, but too many lows, and that’s a reflection of Archie and his coaching staff.
