With over 110 thirty-point performances, more than 1500 double-doubles, and ten triple-doubles across Division I NCAA Basketball, there is no lack of spectacular games to highlight from January.

To choose and then rank fifteen is a practice in futility and leaves one open for unlimited criticism. To take 15 players from the over 1500 that had double-doubles, each player had to have something special about their stats. Whether it is a tremendous amount of points, a great field-goal percentage, or a player compiling their stats in a limited amount of minutes.

The bottom line points scored are not the sole quantifier to be considered a top performance in January. As an example of great performances that were not good enough, here are some honorable mentions and the first entry on the list.

  • Teyvion Kirk: 22 pts / 11 rbs / 11 asts
  • Chander Vaudrin: 13 pts / 11 rbs / 14 asts
  • Hunter Dickinson: 26 pts / 10-11 FG
  • Fardaws Aimaq: 27 pts / 20 rbs / 12 FGA

15. Kevin Obanor (Oral Roberts): 39 points and 10 rebounds

The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles opened up in 2021 with a trip to Baxter Arena to take on the Omaha Mavericks. The end result would be a 95-83 road win, as the Golden Eagles’ 6’8 junior forward would score 41 percent of their points and grab 38 percent of their rebounds. In his 37 minutes played, Obanor scored 39 points and was 16-23 from the field while grabbing ten boards to capture his fourth (at the time) double-double of the season.

His 6-11 from beyond the arc was instrumental as the current Summit Conference leader in free-throw attempts was only 1-1 from the charity stripe. Obanor’s January as a whole was fantastic as he averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds.
