After a night where the two best teams in Big East Basketball dropped games and looked awful, I think it’s a perfect time to stop giving this conference the benefit of the doubt. I actually don’t care that Villanova lost. It happens. They got punched in the mouth by a hot St. John’s team. The Red Storm took the fight to them and sped the Wildcats up. If anything, this is what Villanova needed. They got a wake-up call and this will be better for them in the long run.

Villanova is excellent because they play at their pace. They slow it down, run a very efficient half-court offense, and have guys who know their role. The culture that Jay Wright instilled is why they are one of the best teams in the nation year in, year out.

However, the conference as a whole gets a pass. Villanova has carried this league. When evaluating the Big East, I find people not criticizing the league enough. Instead, most just point to the fact that Nova is a Top 10 team and Final Four caliber.

I said in my last article that the PAC-12 gets treated unfairly, but ultimately, they’re a better league than everyone thinks. Contrary, the Big East is considered a good league, but in actuality, it’s horrid this season. Here are some current takeaways from the league.
