Creighton Bluejays

I really love the Creighton Bluejays…on paper. They have all upperclassmen in their starting lineup. Furthermore, those five guys all score in double digits. They have one of the best Point Guards in the country in Marcus Zegarowski, one of the best pure shooters in Mitchell Ballock, two tough wings who are versatile in Denzel Mahoney and Damien Jefferson, and Christian Bishop, who is an athletic center with skill. This starting five can score with anybody in the country.

The two main concerns for Greg McDermott’s team are that they lack depth and refuse to play defense. It’s primarily just the starting five that makes an impact for Creighton. If there’s a physical game, or if an injury takes place, it will be very hard on them. Zegarowski already missed time with a knee problem, and they can’t afford him or another starter to go down. This team is reminiscent of Iowa. Great offensively, but terrible on the other side of the floor. That is a recipe for disaster.

The Bluejays have really made no sense as of late. Head-scratching losses to Butler and Georgetown is going to make people very wary of them come March.
