Seton Hall

There a few Big East teams that have struggled to get their games in, leading to a very uneven conference standing. Regardless, the addition of Connecticut this past offseason made this great league even greater, and this year is proving that. There might not be as much talent or depth in the league, but the Big East has provided plenty of excitement.

Look no further than Seton Hall. Prior to this week, they hadn’t won a game since January 9, dropping a trio of games to ranked conference opponents. This week they got a pair of big road wins thanks to 20-point outbursts from Sandro Mamukelashvili. The Pirates thwarted Providence on Wednesday by 17 points before getting a great road win at UConn on Saturday.

These Pirates have worked their way to 8-5 in the Big East, while their 11-8 record isn’t too shabby at this point. The Pirates have clearly worked their way back into conference contention and are securing their position on the bubble. The overall record doesn’t look impressive, but the NET is rising and two key road wins certainly help no matter who they’re against.

Looking ahead, very winnable games loom for the Pirates. This team is not going to win the Big East and they certainly miss Myles Powell, but Seton Hall could very certainly play a role in the NCAA Tournament.
