Big 12 Basketball power pankings: Texas Tech rises as Baylor looks to run the table
By Andrew Tineo
Previous games: 78-81 loss to TCU. 75-67 win over Texas
Next games: Monday at. Kansas, Saturday vs. Kansas State
Behind a heroic effort from the Freshman trio, Oklahoma State could not survive the Horned Frogs in Ft. Worth. This game also indicates the bright future of the Cowboys, as those three combined for 52 of the team’s 78 points.
After being held in check for a half, Cunningham exploded for 15 points in the second half and was helped by a 16-point performance from Walker. Cunningham’s time in Stillwater is nearing its course. However, it does not take away from the future of the program, under Mike Boynton. The Cowboys won in the box score, shooting 49 percent from the field, 53 percent from beyond the arc, and made 22 free throws.
It was not enough as the Cowboys would be searching for a massive upset over Top 10 Texas on Saturday.
The youth of this team continues to win big games, as it was led by sophomore Kalib Boone. His 22 points on 8-13 shooting was a big factor. In a game, where the forwards were not the prime sources for scoring, it was Boone that got it done.
His 15 rebounds and five blocks were huge in the effort, even with Cunningham not having the most efficient night. When the Cowboys needed him the most, Cunningham and Boone delivered.
The Cowboys have a showdown with Kansas, hoping to sweep the Jayhawks.
