Illinois Fighting Illini
Yet another team that is making a case for a 1 seed, the Illinois Fighting Illini. How would the Illini follow up after a top 10 win over Iowa last week? By picking up two very impressive victories to most likely move back into the top 10.
Illinois started the week with a close 75-71 overtime road victory against Indiana, a game that included a big Illini run, and dominant defense in overtime. While this was a good victory, however the biggest win for the Illini came later in the week.
Illinois defeated Wisconsin 75-60 in a key Big 10 matchup where they completely dominated the Badgers in a few key areas. The Illini were lead by the dynamic duo of Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn, each of which scored 20+ points. Dosunmu finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists in what was only the third triple-double in Illinois history.
Illinois continues to overpower opponents at times and could see themselves move in the Top 10 in this week’s rankings.
