4. If there is an ACC tournament, does Virginia Tech get a double-bye? Does Virginia Tech defeat Louisville for the first time in 30 years? – Hokie Matthew (@hokiesmash_ASD)
The Busting Brackets staff has quite a few Hokie fans and this year the Hokies are one of the better teams in the ACC, but they are also really hard to predict. Virginia Tech has beaten Villanova, Virginia, Clemson, Clemson, and Duke.
The Hokies have also lost to Pittsburgh, Penn State, and Syracuse by 18 points. They have some of the best wins in the ACC but they also have some extremely head scratching losses as well. The Hokies have also had a few games they are lucky to win like Miami twice games in which they struggled.
If the Hokies continue to play as they have been it will be tough to finish high enough to receive the double-bye. Virginia Tech has done very well at playing to the level of their competition if they can stop doing that they will be one of the best teams in the ACC, if they continue to play down to their competition they won’t receive the double buy.
As for the Louisville game, I had no idea Virginia Tech had not beaten Louisville in 30 years, the first game was great and it was a two point game in which Louisville obviously came out on top. That game should be a lot of the same and Keve Aluma, Hunter Catoor and Jalen Cone are going to be huge factors in that one.
Head coach Mike Young has his Hokies playing really well and even if they don’t beat Louisville of receive the double bye in the ACC tournament they are still due to make some noise in the NCAA tournament. The Hokies are one of the best teams in the ACC now they just need to play like it consistently.
That is it for this week only four user questions and given that the countdown to the NCAA tournament has begun every game is magnified and everything is a story line. Now it’s time to just sit back and enjoy the ride.
