Big Ten Basketball: Rivals Michigan, Ohio State leads latest power rankings
By Adam Childs
Big Ten Basketball is starting to flex its muscles nationally as they currently have two teams in the top five, three in the top ten, and four in the top 15. The conference is loaded and is hoping that turns into their first national championship since 2020.
Outside of Gonzaga and Baylor, the Big Ten has had the most consistent teams in the country. As losses pile up around the country, the top of the Big Ten keeps on winning. Michigan will finally get back on the court this weekend after a pause, but during their break, both Illinois and Ohio State have gotten hot.
Even a struggling Iowa team is capable of beating anybody on a given night. Of course, any team could if they had Player of the Year front-runner Luke Garza.
The middle of the Big Ten is also capable of playing with almost anyone and even the bottom teams have given some teams fits.
The Big Ten could be a nine or ten bid conference for the NCAA tournament and not a lot of teams are going to want to face them. The conference schedule has taken down some teams, but with so many good teams it will only make them stronger come tournament time.
It will be an interesting last five weeks of the season including the conference tournament and a lot has to be decided. But don’t be surprised if at the end two teams are on the one line with another one sitting as a two seed.
Before we rush to the end of the season, we take a look at where they rank right now.
