The Bulldogs had three other players in double figures along with Drew Timmie with 20 points and 13 rebounds.
Gonzaga is currently the No. 1 ranked team on Kenpom and is on pace to be the best team in Kenpom’s database since the 2015 Kentucky team. This year’s team is currently rated 2nd in offensive efficiency and 5th in defensive efficiency. The Zags also lead the country in two-point field goal percentage and effective field goal percentage.
Other key players for Gonzaga are leading scorer Corey Kispert19.5 points per game who’s the best shooter in the country. Andrew Nembhard 9.3 points per game and 4.4 assists per game. He is an excellent pick and roll passer who does a good job taking care of the ball. Joel Ayayi is kind of a glue guy. He contributes 11.3 points per game 7.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists. He’s a high IQ player who does everything well. Anton Watson is a versatile defender scoring 7.7 points per game but he’s also a really good finisher.
The San Francisco Dons are off to a 10-9 start this season. Has lost their last game to Pepperdine 76-68. Khalil Shabazz was the leading scorer for the Dons with 20 points against the Waves.
The Dons have been known for the analytical approach the last two season’s under Todd Golden and now Washington State head coach Kyle Smith. This year San Francisco’s currently 88th in Kenpom which is down from where they have been the last two years. They do a pretty solid job guarding the three-point line ranking 29th in the country.
Outside of Jamaree Bouyea who’s a good scoring guard contributing 16.7 points per game and Dzmitry Ryuny a 6’9 forward that’s scoring 9.7 points per game. The Dons just don’t have a whole lot of talent outside those three.
San Francisco is a well-coached team that is always really prepared against top competition. The Dons beat Virginia earlier this year and always seem to hang with Gonzaga for a little bit. At the end of the day, the Zags have too much talent and should pull away.
Prediction: Gonzaga 85, San Francisco 67
