. . . Wolverines . 2. team. 485

A frontcourt tandem of Hunter Dickinson and Holmgren would be a problem.

Pro: If Holmgren were to choose Michigan, they are Final Four bound. Book it. They would have the most dominant frontcourt in the Big Ten and the nation. Holmgren would also give Head Coach Juwan Howard flexibility in how he could use Holmgren in the offense. If he chooses Michigan, the other Big Ten teams may have difficulty trying to game plan for the Wolverines.

Con: Michigan’s 2021 recruiting class is full according to their verbal commits page, so unless someone transfers or de-commits, there may not be room for him.

3. team. 490. . . . Buckeyes

Holmgren would be a steal for the Buckeyes.

Pro: I like the way that big men have developed under Chris Holtmann. Guys like Andre and Kaleb Wesson, Kyle Young, and E.J. Liddell have been very successful and produced at a high level.

Con: The Buckeyes are chasing the Zags in the lead for Holmgren. The Buckeyes did get to visit with him in person, but a lot would have to go their way to land him ultimately. As far as his fit, If E.J. Liddell stays, Holmgren could play the power forward spot, but if he moves on, he will have to play center unless Zed Key moves in that spot.

. . Golden Gophers . 4. team. 487.

Holmgren would be a home run commitment for Minnesota.

Pro: The Golden Gophers would have a fair amount of depth t the center position with Holmgren, 2021 three-star Centers Treyton Thompson and Kenny Pohto, Liam Robbins, Sam Freeman, and Martice Mitchell. Robbins and Holmgren would be No. 1 and 2 at that position. While Minnesota’s strength has been their guard play, Holmgren would shift that. He would also be in line for Big Ten Freshman of the Year and the All-Defensive Team.

Con: Minnesota still has ways to go before being a top team in the Big Ten conference. They may lose either Marcus Carr or Gabe Kalscheur or both to the NBA Draft after this season. The hometown fit would be excellent for family reasons, but if Holmgren wants to compete for a conference title and a run in the NCAA Tournament, the Gophers aren’t the team.
