4. Davidson Wildcats
- 2020-21 record: 10-5 overall, 6-2 A-10
- Previous ranking: 3rd
Now Davidson’s situation is exactly like George Washington’s dilemma. When the previous rankings were released, the Wildcats were 10-5 after a 69-60 road win over UMass. Weeks later, they are still 10-5, having been forced to go on pause after that game.
The Wildcats have been forced to postpone five games – several of them frustratingly significant for a team that, not that long ago, was on the bubble. Crucial tilts with St. Bonaventure and VCU – along with URI and Duquesne – are now off Davidson’s schedule for the foreseeable future.
Instead, the Wildcats will now take on three of the bottom teams in the league – Saint Joseph’s, George Mason, and George Washington – with one game against VCU thrown in. That does not provide anything for a Davidson crew that has the talent to win the A-10 Tournament – meaning they will have to do just that if they hope to reach March Madness.
