5. Tulsa Golden Hurricane
The Golden Hurricane has endured a bit of a roller coaster season this year. Starting strong out of the gate, Tulsa has struggled lately losing six of their last eight games. A talented defensive program under head coach Frank Haith, the offensive end of the court just has not followed the production needed to pull out wins in a tough American Athletic Conference.
Tulsa has been heavily reliant on its backcourt to pull out wins and meet the playing style desired by Coach Haith. Six players on this year’s roster are averaging 17.5 minutes per game and can share the ball and defend at an equally high level. While the Golden Hurricane does have the depth to utilize, they are losing their top-3 guards after this season. Hoping to quickly rebuild it however, the program has received commitments from a trio of guards.
Tulsa was the only in-state program to pursue Holiman enough to offer him a scholarship. Head coach Frank Haith desperately needs to replace top end talent on his team and he would be well served to pursue the in-state guard as heavily as he can. While it’s uncertain how the rotation will unfold once he enters the fold, Holiman can undeniably improve what can only be described as an underperforming offense.
