4. DePaul Blue Demons

It’s been difficult for head coach Dave Leitao to get DePaul off the bottom of the Big East standings, since taking over the program again in 2015-16. While riding the development of players like Max Strus and Charlie Moore to winning campaigns in previous seasons, the Blue Demons have not had similar success this season.

A large aspect of that downturn has been the lack of availability from Charlie Moore due to injury. DePaul has been forced to rely on transfers and younger guards to keep the team at a similar level of production, but it has not worked as well. Coach Leitao has been working diligently on the recruiting trail to help turn these fortunes around and build the program up.

Holiman would be a nice addition for Leitao to lean on at the lead guard position, but he has already secured commitments from talented guards Ahamad Bynum (2021) and Preston Murphy Jr (2022) to help alleviate some of these answers. Despite some of the cloudiness about immediate playing time, it’s undeniable that Holiman’s pedigree as a playmaker and perimeter threat can certainly boost the on-court performances for the Blue Demons.
