NCAA Basketball: Ranking top teams 7 for 2022 4-star Adante’ Holiman
By Ian Mumm
1. Arizona State Sun Devils
In-state rival Arizona State also made Holiman’s top 7 list. The Sun Devils have been able to successfully recruit top players to Tempe over the last several seasons, especially prominent backcourt talents. Freshman Josh Christopher has been a crucial addition to this year’s team and his presence has not cramped the style of other backcourt stars Remy Martin, Alonzo Verge and Holland Woods.
In fact, the reliance on numerous guards throughout the game and a confidence to spread the ball around is a reason the Sun Devils should be an option at the top of Holiman’s list. This playing style offers an immediate opportunity for Holiman to see the floor and carve out a bigger role in the rotation.
While veterans Martin and Woods, as well as freshman Josh Christopher, is assuredly not going to be on the roster after this season, the presence of Ohio State transfer Luther Muhammad will create a strong mentorship for Holiman’s development to accelerate at the college level.
In addition to the large guard rotation and opportunity for minutes as a freshman, the playing style of Arizona State accentuates Holiman’s strengths. The Sun Devils are a team that loves to push the pace and get out in transition.
Holiman’s growing consistency as a deep perimeter threat and playmaker with the ball in his hands sets up as a match made in heaven and an opportunity for Arizona State to improve on their overall lack of perimeter production.
