Belmont Bruins

Arguably one of the best mid-major teams this season, the Belmont Bruins have been flat out dominant.

Owners of a 22-1 overall record, the Bruins are the top team in the OVC, partly due to their offensive abilities. The Bruins are currently averaging 83.3 PPG on 51.3% shooting from the field, which ranks ninth among all Division 1 college basketball teams.

Belmont has five players that average in double-figures, and are led by junior center Nick Muszynski who averages 15 points and 5.5 rebounds per game on 59.1% shooting.

The Bruins have dominated the OVC all season long and will be a handful for any team in the NCAA Tournament. If I had a pick for this year’s “Cinderella”, it’s Belmont.

Other teams to look out for in particular as potential tough matchups this March are Oregon, UC Santa Barbara, Winthrop, Western Kentucky, UAB, SMU, and North Carolina.
