NCAA Basketball: 8 teams that should target Boston College transfer Wynston Tabbs
Cincinnati Bearcats
It’s been a rough season overall for the Bearcats. At 7-7 overall and 5-4 in league play, this team will need to win the AAC Tournament or their nine-year NCAA Tournament streak is coming to an end. And a big part of it has been due to the regression and struggles of the senior frontcourt. While that is certainly a need to address in the offseason, so is the backcourt.
Leading scorer Keith Williams is all but certain to go pro after the season, and former top-50 recruit Zach Harvey has already entered the transfer portal himself. Michigan junior transfer David Dejulius (10.9 ppg and 4.7 apg) has been good overall but could use a scoring complement to replace Williams. For Tabbs, he’d be a go-to guy in the Bearcat’s offense and get plenty of minutes, while still playing for a traditional solid program.
Georgetown Hoyas
Tabbs is from the Maryland area and while the Terrapins are fairly loaded in the backcourt, there are other local programs that could use his services. One of them is Georgetown, who is 6-10 (4-7) and in rebuilding after losing so much production from the season prior. And assuming that leading senior scorers Jahvon Blair and Jamorko Pickett are going to depart, they’re going to need even more scoring production.
Good news is that five-star wing Aminu Mohammed is coming to town from the 2021 recruiting class, along with current junior Donald Carey (8.8 ppg) and freshman point guard Dante Harris. There would be plenty of minutes available for the Hoyas to give Tabbs and he would get to play in the always competitive Big East. And landing him could very well end up saving Coach Patrick Ewing’s job in the end.
